My Story

January 7th, 2024. I just turned 40, was months away from a divorce, and starting my life all over in a new city across the country. I had spent months sad, depressed, and struggling to find myself and a reason to keep going. For my birthday I received a gift that changed my life: a hands-on glassblowing experience.

I stepped into the hot shop, watched the magic of molten glass unfold before me, and never looked back. This medium has quite literally saved me. I found healing, catharsis, community, and hope in the hot shop. Each piece available for purchase here at THAR SHE BLOWS is lovingly crafted with blood, sweat, and tears (sometimes literally) and a heart that is healing from trauma. Each time I step into the hot shop to make new work, (wether it is something silly or something serious) I nurture that joy in my heart, and heal just a little more.

Watching and participating in the process of handcrafted glass is the closest to true magic I’ve ever experienced. In many ways it is alchemy. It transforms as a medium, and it transforms those brave souls who embrace the heat to wield it. Thank you so much for supporting me on this journey, and I am elated to share these works with you.
